Re-Evaluating Radioresistance in Soft Tissue Sarcoma - T.Yanagihara - 20260505

Ted K. Yanagihara, MD, PhD, will review the long-standing dogma that sarcoma represents a radioresistant histology and challenge this notion through a more nuanced, biology-driven lens. By distinguishing intrinsic radiosensitivity from observed clinical radioresponsiveness, we will explore how factors such as dose, fractionation, tumor microenvironment, and histologic subtype shape outcomes. We will also discuss emerging clinical trial data that are reshaping sarcoma management—including the growing integration of systemic therapies—and highlight ongoing clinical trials at our institution.
