Sickle Cell Disease: An Overview and Updates - K. Ataga - 20170125
The CDC estimates that Sickle Cell Disease affects approximately 100,000 Americans. This lecture will provide an overview of this group of inherited red blood cell disorders along with updates on current research in the field. Lecture Objectives: -Identify the various sickle cell syndromes. -Describe the pathophysiology of sickle cell disease. -Implement the NHLBI evidence-based guidelines for management of sickle cell disease. This lecture was presented as a part of the Medical and Surgical Oncology Lecture Series.
